Judge Robert Hanson of the Polk County, Iowa court struck down the state's ban on gay marriage as unconstitutional and a violation of the equal rights clause. He also ordered that marriage licenses be immediately granted to the six homosexual couples who acted as plaintiffs in the case. No word yet on whether the marriages of Iowa's Bible-thumpers have suffered from the desecration of their sanctity.
